The weather got me used to the rain by now. Today I woke up to the thunderstorm and flooded neighbourhood.
I had BBQ planned this evening thanks to my hosts hospitality. We met at my place at 3PM, but since they both had some work to do and rain miraculously ceased, they offered to drop me in the downtown.
The downtown isn’t big, but it’s satisfying and is probably the only location where you can find other foreigners. There are only 300 registered foreign residents on the Island, so it’s rare to spot one from within 50.000 island’s overall population.
I entertained my palate with A&W’s orange chicken burger and a pint of root beer. Both were incredibly delicious. Then I walked by the Ishigaki Port where you can take a ferry to nearby islands. Finally made a stop on the artificial island where abandoned cats live. On the Ishigaki Island there are no shelters for cats, so people drop them somewhere in the wild. The luck wanted they all gathered in one place. Best part is they kept their house life habits and come to you for a cuddle the minute they see you =)
In the evening, still being dry, I had the planned BBQ. The other polish family didn’t expect me to arrive and were very happy and cheerful to meet a polish guy on the other side of the World. Soon I found out they have lived in Japan for 3 years, which followed by many stories about real life here.
The day was excellent and weather forecasts seem very positive for the upcoming days, so I hope to travel to more fascinating places around here!
See you later!
