Nagasaki welcomed me warmly with an earthquake at 2am at night. It was first time I experienced the shaking. I stayed in the hotel on 7th floor, which only added to the sensation. But that’s not the topic of this entry.
See, Nagasaki is the second area in the World that got flattened by a ferocious atomic bomb. Just like in Hiroshima, Japan has built Peace Park and Atomic Bomb Museum to commemorate such cruel event and to remind everyone the destroying force of heat and radiation that goes with it.
I am not here to recite the history, but I just wanted to say this. It’s the only museum that have literally made me so sad and ashamed of human race. The bomb was nothing, but to prove a point that one side is more right than the other. US justified the move saying they saved thousands of thousands young Americans. They didn’t add at the cost of 160.000 killed Japanese residents and years-to-come of grief and pain.
Enough before I dive into details. I greatly recommend to visit a museum in either Hiroshima or Nagasaki to fully understand the hell that Japanese had to go through. It will also wide open your eyes on the military situation at the present day.
