Nothing kicks a day off better than a tasty breakfast. I looked up a recommended breakfast cafes in the neighbourhood and went to one to fill my tummy with delicious stuff. I ordered a soufflè pancake with fruit salad as a topping, toast overloaded with home made beef and a bowl of a soup of the day. I know it’s a lot, but I shared it with my better half =)
Later, I caught a monorail towards the Shuri Castle, which was the main palace of Ryukyu Kingdom. It has burned down four times during it’s existence, so the reconstruction available to tourists today dates back only to 1992. It used to be the focal point of foreign trade. During World War II it was used as a headquarters for Japanese military, which attracted US attention and got them to destroy the area. Interesting fact: in a famous video game Call of Duty you take part in a final push in an American assault to take over Okinawa, which happens in Shuri castle. Needless to say, the place is incredibly beautiful.
The day has ended in a typical Japanese bar welcoming up to 10 guests at a time hidden in the basement. Sounds creepy, but it’s really a wonderful place to be in. People are very friendly and most certainly interested in you as a foreigner. I ordered, again, tons of food just to try everything!
After gaining a few kilos, I rolled towards home and called it a day.
