Back in March I lived in Ueno. I decided to meet Aki, who used to be my host, before I departure from Japan. We were joined by an Australian couple. More the merrier, so I didn’t mind at all.

Originally we planned a sushi evening, but the night grew up in significance fairly quickly.

Since the Australian couple was new to Japan (I know, I am a veteran now), we took them to a typical izakaya to try yakitori, okonomiyaki, horse sashimi any many more Japanese treats. They loved it. I also recommended them a bottle of real sake. They have already tried one back in their country and they hated it. I assured them it was completely different here, so they gave it a try and downed the bottle a minute later =)

Not having enough we finally arrived in the sushi bar. I just couldn’t believe one plate (2 pieces of sushi) was priced at 140 yen (below £1). We hit grand total of 19 plates and left completely stuffed. So good!

The last stop was one of those bars on 6th or so floor and you get unlimited drinks for 2 or 3 hours for a fixed price. We paid 1500 yen per head and… Good they take last orders at midnight. We would have spent there forever otherwise!
